BOYS ATHLETE OF THE WEEK VOTING

The overall winner will be announced on Friday, May 19.

Devin Jackson, West Covina: Jackson won the CIF Southern Section Division 2 girls shot put title at Moorpark High. Jackson set a personal best and established the third-best mark in the state this year with her toss of 43 feet, 8 inches. She also qualified for the Masters Meet at Moorpark High on Saturday. Jackson is among the favorites to win the state title. Only two girls from Sherman Oaks Notre Dame have posted better marks than her, and she has continued to improve as the season goes on.

Alana Langford, Carson: Langford hit a three-run home run and drove in five runs to lead Carson to a 10-0 win in the L.A. City Section Open Division quarterfinals.

Aujane Luckey, Wilson: The senior sprinter won the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 400-meters title with a personal best of 53.23 seconds, which was the fastest time in the CIF-SS across all four divisions. Luckey, who signed with Arizona State track last fall, helped Wilson win the Division 1 girls team championships. She also finished third in the 200 in 23.89 and ran on Wilson’s winning 4×100 and 4×400 relays. Wilson’s 4×400 ran the fastest time this year in California. Luckey is the No. 1 seed in the 400 at the Masters Meet on Saturday at Moorpark High and hopes to qualify for the state meet on May 26-27.

Tamara Aimufia, United Christian Academy: Aimufia claimed the Division 4 titles in the girls long jump and triple jump at the CIF Southern Section’s championship meet at Moorpark High School. She joined Lewis Gray (2018) as the only athletes in school history to win a section track and field individual championship. Aimufia’s marks in the long jump (19 feet) and the triple jump (personal best of 39 feet, 11.75 inches) were good enough to qualify for this week’s Masters Meet. She ranks among the Top 8 in the state in both events this season.

Teagan O’Dell, Santa Margarita: O’Dell set the national high school record in the 200-yard individual medley and two Orange County records to help the Eagles capture a fourth consecutive CIF State championship in Fresno. She broke Olympian Torri Huske’s national record in the 200 IM (1:53.38) and set county records in the 50 freestyle (22.40) and 100 backstroke (50.96).

Ella Ludden, Birmingham Charter: Ludden threw a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts and walked three batters in a 2-0 win over Eagle Rock in the program’s first victory in the City Open Division playoffs. The victory put the Patriots in the semifinals against Carson Tuesday.
